I just want to offer of little travel information about the importance of staying healthy while away on holidays for you and your family. I know a big part of a vacation you and your family have waited so long for is to let loose and forget about trying to eat right and stay healthy. Well, things have changed and it's so important to stay on track and not let things get away from you. Sure you can go out and have a great time, indulge, forget about your stress and worries while away, but take a few moments from the day and be sure to exercise and eat some healthy food as well.
Our family, when away on vacation, make sure to eat balanced meals with plenty of fluids (water) and try to include some exercise along the way. This can really help, especially when travelling abroad and when your system has to adjust to the sometimes drastic change you may experience while away. Here at Holidays for Family, we always encourage drinking plenty of fluids and getting lots of exercise when travelling. This has always helped in reducing the chances of getting sick, preventing annoying things like; Traveller's diarrhea, Constipation, Jet Lag, Lack of Energy, just to name a few.
A Diet Healthy Vacation - Prevents Illness
Staying healthy and trying to eat a balanced and healthy diet will certainly increase your chances of having an illness free, safe and enjoyable vacation. One of the most important steps our family have always kept while away, especially when our children were much younger, is to drink plenty of bottled or purified water. This is vitally important, especially if you are taking your family holidays abroad. If this is not readily available, do try to boil your water or take purification pills etc. with you. Without a doubt, drinking strange water Is the number one cause those nasty gastrointestinal issues as listed above. Also, if you like ice in your drinks, make sure you know where that ice has come from!
As difficult as it may be, try to eat one healthy meal a day along with some fruits and vegetables. It really isn't that difficult when you just take a moment and think about what you're about to order from the menu. Try to include a healthy salad, soup and so on, instead of every meal loaded with fat and calories and little nutritional value. Ordering diet healthy items just takes a little will power!
Fitness - A Diet Healthy Ingredient
We all love a carefree vacation! After all, isn't that what it's all about? Certainly, but did you know that the average weight gain on a typical week long cruise is 8 pounds? Yep and you know why? Because those average people did nothing but eat with little or no exercise. The beauty of a cruise holiday is the fantastic dining experience, but they also have endless activities to take in, fitness studios with exercise classes, walking/jogging tracks and much more. I love to eat plenty while away, but I make sure I burn those excess calories before or after indulging. It's not hard your body will love you for it and all it takes is a little effort on your part.
So go have a great vacation with your family, but don't forget to eat a healthy meal and get your exercise!
